It was not India's day. After winning the toss and choosing to bat first they were all out for 148 runs in 39.4 overs. MG Johnson bowled superbly. He took 5 wickets for 26 runs in his 10 overs.
It was an easy target for Australia. They scored the required 149 runs in 25.5 overs for the lost of 1 wicket. AC Gilchrist scored 79 runs.
Australia won the match by 9 wickets to take a 3-1 unbeatable lead in the series. Now India must win the coming two matches if they want to level the series.
